NOW TO GET SOME COMMENTS
So as of recent news... Stanford Quarterback is staying in the NCAA for another year..... I want to know everyone's thoughts on this..
Here is what I think..... I think we should be praising this dude, as opposed to criticizing him and telling him how dumb he is for loosing all that money. Which is probably true, he could have ruined his NFL career(COULD HAVE... I think he's going to be one of the bests....ever). SO anyways, I think he did something that a lot more athletes should be proud of, staying in school... its helping keep a positive side to what a "Student-Athlete" truly is... Andrew Luck is the man, I'm riding his bandwagon forever... I watched him play in their first game of the season, and I'm stuck on ol' buddy since then...

DUMB OR SMART DECISION?

                                                                      why not?

  1. I totally agree with you my man. Andrew Luck is on top of the world at Stanford. He is the king of the campus in one of the most beautiful places in the world. His dad was an NFL quarterback and is the current Athletic Director for the University of West Virgina so he can afford the luxury of continuing to be a phenomenal student athlete.

With that being said, I do believe that the sad truth is that there are some kids who play college sports as if it were a trade school. I honestly don't know if I blame them, it's their only opportunity to dig themselves and their families out of economic ruts and make a name for themselves.

Although this isn't the intended purpose for college athletics, the NCAA is to blame for bastardizing and pimping out these student-athletes for huge profits, of which the student sees very little.

Also, does this mean Harbaugh will stay in Palo Alto too?

  2. There are certainly two ways to look at this.

Take Mike Beasley. He has repeatedly stated that if he could do it all over again he would have stayed in school. This is because he got drafted into a situation that was not right for him.

Then you can look at guys like Colt McCoy. If he would have come out two years ago coming off the year where he completed like 75% of his passes. He goes back for his senior year, posts less than stellar numbers and falls down the draft.

It is entirely his decision and I respect it. I know my college years provided memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and I would not have wanted to cut that experience short.

  4. Look at Michael Bush, potential top 10 pick but came back for his senior yr and broke his leg. Lost him millions. Look at Jake Locker. I don't wish that type of injury on Luck but the possibility is always there.

Of course Luck has said from the jump that he isn't about that life. He wants to be a business man and finish school. Props to him.

You also have to weight the possibility of an NFL lockout or contract restrictions. Let's say the NFL ends guaranteed money for rookies. No way he touches Bradford's money he got this year.

To answer your question Pat...there is no 'right' or 'wrong' answer here. Luck did what he thought was best and will have to live w/ that decision.

NOW if it was me in that same position no doubt in my mind I'm going pro. You can always go back and get your degree you can't go back in time, god save an injury that drops you from a #1 pick to getting drafted in the 4th round.
